In April 2019, we started a mentorship programme to help young analytically minded students use data and visualisation to create engaging content. One of the key aims of the programme was to create an opportunity for aspiring football analysts who may not else wise have the available resources to get hands on experience.
The programme is mentee-led and as such will allow and encourage the students to become more inquisitive as well as competent with answering questions using the data. Such questions could be, where is it best to shoot from? How much does the angle of a shot matter? Are some players better finishers than others?
